Carlos is the lead for housing development at Nuveen Real Estate. The firm is one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world with $156 billion(1) of assets under management. He leads deal sourcing, JV partner identification and execution of apartment, student, and age restricted developments in the US.
Mr. Burneo is also the head housing transactions and activities in Florida. The firm currently owns 34 apartment properties in the state. He also leads flexible living strategies for housing at in the US with short term rental, coliving and branded operators.
Carlos previous roles included Senior Vice President for JLL Capital Markets Group based in Miami where he was responsible for investment sales in multiple asset types as well as participating in equity placements in Florida and Latin America.
Prior to that Carlos was a Director at Trade Street Residential, a Taft Harley pension fund advisor, focusing on multifamily - mixed use development and investments in the Southeast. He also worked in San Francisco, California on commercial and residential developments at Vanguard Properties and CambridgeCM.
Carlos holds an undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of San Francisco in Quito, Ecuador. He also holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Stanford University.
He is an active member of the ULI Chapter South Florida Chapter.
