Speaker Bio
Masoud Shojaee is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Shoma Group, an award-winning real estate development company based in Miami specializing in residential and commercial projects. Since founding Shoma in 1988, Shojaee has developed more than 10,000 residential units and more than one million square feet of retail and office space with $5 billion in completed real estate transactions.
Shojaee has built a reputation as a visionary developer with the unique ability and grit to see potential in underdeveloped areas and laying the groundwork for attractive, up-and-coming cities with his mixed-use projects. Considered by many to be the “King of Doral,” Shojaee was a key player in the city’s development as one of the first to identify and invest in the city’s potential in the 1990s and early 2000s, a time when the area was a warehouse district. He amassed nearly 55 acres of land, most of which he later used as the site for his $900-million-dollar mixed-use development in collaboration with Related Group in 2013. That joint venture encompasses the 300,000-square-foot retail space CityPlace, luxury rental apartment buildings The Manor and The Flats, and Oasis Park Square, a community of 135 single-family homes. Prior to joining forces with Related in 2013, Shojaee had already developed One Park Square at Doral, an 11-story commercial development completed in 2010 that was the first type A office center in Doral, delivering nearly 282,000-square feet of useful space. Since 2015, Shojaee has sold some of his Doral projects for over $300+ million.
Shoma Group’s recent and current projects include Shoma Bazaar, a 13,000-square-foot food hall in Doral, Ten30 South Beach, a boutique low-rise condominium in Miami Beach, and three mixed-use developments with luxury apartments and retail, Shoma Bay in North Bay Village, Shoma Village in Hialeah and Shoma One near Coral Gables.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Masoud Shojaee immigrated to the U.S. in 1978 and currently resides in Coral Gables, Fla. Shojaee studied at the University of Miami, where he received a master’s degree in electrical engineering before venturing into the world of real estate and launching Shoma Group. In addition to being a businessman, Shojaee is an active philanthropist with involvement in the University of Miami’s School of Communication scholarship fund, World Vision, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, among others. When he is not closing multi-million dollar real estate deals or focusing on his philanthropic efforts, Shojaee enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and their dog Pebbles, collecting fine wines, traveling throughout Europe and flying his helicopter.
