10:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Deep Dive Workshop - Navigating the Opportunity in Opportunity Zones: Inside the updated rules and regulations

Created as part of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the concept of Opportunity Zones was to attract investment capital into “economically distressed” areas.  In return for these investments, investors receive several tax benefits. But of the thousands of potential communities, which ones might offer the best returns, since no two Opportunity Zones are alike. The details of the “opportunity” in Opportunity Zones are complex, and finding the right resource to help you understand the rules, regulations, and the risks associated with this venture is critical.  This workshop is designed to go dive into the possibilities, parameters and regulations of Opportunity Zones specifically for the multifamily sector.

Presenter:
Brent Parker CPA, Principal, Novogradac & Company LLP

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Deep Dive Workshop - The Customer Experience: Marketing Strategies for Full Occupancy

Renting an apartment is no longer chiefly a transactional act, and has moved beyond just supplying a list of amenities to a prospective renter. Multifamily operators have had to reconfigure their internal culture and marketing strategies to instill more of an emotional component to attract renters. Additionally, the industry is verging on new frontiers in marketing strategies and technologies, including the deft adaptation of social media, not to mention VR and drones. This workshop will dive into how you can align your internal organization and utilize innovative strategies and technologies to acquire and maintain occupants.
