James serves in the transaction division of The Bascom Group where his duties include acquisitions, debt and equity financing, market analysis, and dispositions for all major Texas markets. James also manages Bascom’s private capital platform, which repositions middle-market value-add properties in Southern California with accredited investors. James has managed the acquisition of over 13,500 apartment units, totaling approximately $976 million in capitalization. James has overseen the disposition of over 1,900 units, totaling approximately $304 million in consideration. These dispositions have produced a straight-average levered IRR of 24% and equity multiple of 2.07x. In aggregate, James has managed 66 multifamily trades, exceeding $1.25 billion in transaction volume.
James graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Real Estate Finance concentration. He has been a panelist at multiple real estate industry conferences throughout Southern California and Texas and guest lecturers at local universities in Southern California. James is active in Urban Land Institute and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. Through the Bascom family, James has been introduced to amazing non-profit organizations focused on community development and social equity. James has attended networking and fundraising events for UNICEF, I Have A Dream Foundation, WHW and Building Block Foundation Fund.
