Speaker Bio
Yi-Shan is a managing director at BGO on the U.S. Asset Management team, where she manages 25-30 assets. Her portfolio comprises primarily industrial assets, including cold storage, concentrated mostly in Northeast region of the U.S., along with other assets in Atlanta, Texas and a few other southern states.
Yi-Shan started her career in real estate at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, starting as an analyst in the NY office and eventually being promoted to Managing Director based in Asia. She spent 7 years working in the US market, rotating through asset management, acquisitions, and alternative acquisitions; and 12 years in Asia, where she worked on deals from closing through exit.
In 2007 Yi-Shan moved to Hong Kong, where she served as a founding member of J.P. Morgan’s Asia-Pacific Real Estate Investment business, helping J.P. Morgan build up the team and better understand China’s investment environment and the private equity market. She also helped J.P. Morgan understand new markets in Singapore and South Korea, as well as familiarize themselves with regional support services like law firms and tax consultants.
During her tenure at J.P. Morgan, Yi-Shan obtained complete deal lifecycle experience across all real estate asset classes, and substantial experience investing across the risk curve in both open and closed-end structures. She established a strong track record identifying and structuring successful joint ventures with local operating partners across the U.S. and Asia-Pacific. One of her notable deals included the development and off-market sale of a landmark Shanghai mixed-use development valued over US$1.1B, a joint venture with a Chinese SOE where she achieved a 3.1x equity multiple generating $280m of net profit.
After JPM, Yi-Shan founded Blue Coral Partners from 2018 to 2021, where she consulted for BGO before formally joining them in 2021.
